Cast On, Cast Off

Learn which cast on and cast off techniques can best serve your stitch pattern, yarn and type of knitted projects. We’ll explore a myriad of cast on and cast off techniques available in the knitting community in this class. You’ll walk away with a sample library of cuffs and edgings from which to choose.

Demystifying Charts

Used more and more in patterns and stitch dictionaries, charts aren’t as hard as they seem. You know they represent knitted stitches but can’t quite understand how to read which symbol for which stitch. In this class you’ll learn the most common symbols to stitch, how to read a chart and how to convert written instructions into a chart.

Japanese Charts

The hottest things to hit the knitting scene in years, Japanese stitch dictionaries are a wealth of fantastic knitted stitches, designs and inspiration. You’ll learn the different symbol types and how to read these charts so that you can use them in your knitting.

Knitting Beyond the Basics

Ready to move on from scarves, hats and socks but feel a bit daunted? This class is the perfect place to start. Choosing from three patterns, this course will empower any beginning knitter with the confidence to understand the importance of gauge, basic sweater construction, pattern reading and seaming.

Learn How to Knit

Hand knit scarves, hats, and sweaters. You’ve wanted to learn how to knit them for a while now. In this class, you’ll learn how to cast on, form knit and purl stitches, simple combination’s and read a pattern.
Sweater Architecture
Understanding design, drafting and your silhouette
Ready to create your own design or adjust an existing pattern you love but you’re not sure how? In this 8-week course you’ll learn about silhouettes, draft a pattern that fits you, tackle knitted stitch pattern and design choices and how to calculate for a sweater that works for you.

Sweater Architecture

Are you ready to learn how to design a sweater that fits? The secret? Understanding your body shape and being true to your style. In this class we’ll cover basic body shapes and styles that work best for what body shape you are. You’ll learn how to take your measurements and draft a schematic of your body from these measurements for a sweater that fits. We’ll also discuss the principles of design, the art of swatching, finishing and inspiration.

Twists and Turns

Knitted cables and braids make some of the prettiest and most complex looking knitted stitch patterns. The secret? They’re easier than they look. You’ll learn about the history of cables while knitting samples that can be turned into a hat or scarf. You’ll leave with the confidence and understanding of the importance of gauge, how to create cables, and charts.

Sweater Architecture

Skills: Must know how to knit and have knit at least one sweater.

Time: Starts at 10 am.
First two sessions three hours, following four sessions are two hours.

Class size: 3 – 6
Note: Class will be cancelled with fewer than 3 students registered

Price: 250.00 + materials.
